Enjoyable Drives
Rocky Mountain National Park: Old Fall River Road
Best time: Leave Estes Park around 7:30 PM and enjoy the sunset.
- Large trophy elk and moose are often out at this time along the road.
- Beautiful waterfalls along the drive.
- Meadow and pond near the top.
- The Alpine Visitor Center will be closed, but restrooms are open.
- Drive back down the paved road to Estes Park.
- Total time: Less than 2 hours.
- Road note: No four-wheel drive needed. Expect some washboards. Speed limit is 15 MPH.
Bonus: Very few people do this drive, especially at this time of evening.
